Privacy Policy

Focus Habitat is designed as a local-first application. Focus Habitat does not require an account and does not transmit focus history, label text, companion name, chapter history, next steps, session notes, or analytics records to Focus Habitat or a third-party analytics provider.

Information stored on the device

Focus Habitat stores the information needed to provide its core experience locally on the device, including:

The local analytics schema excludes focus-label text, companion names, narrative text, Next Step text, session-note text, advertising identifiers, and account identifiers. Records are retained on device for no more than 30 days and are capped at 500 entries. They are not transmitted off device by the app.

A user-initiated local export (You → Backups, export and privacy) may include Next Step text, session notes, and Keepsakes alongside session and sealed-memory data, this file is created only when the user explicitly requests it, stays on device unless the user chooses to share the exported file themselves through the system share sheet, and is never uploaded or transmitted automatically. A user-initiated share card for a Sealed Memory is generated the same way: created locally only when explicitly requested, handed only to the system share sheet, never generated or sent automatically.

Notifications and Live Activities

If the user explicitly allows notifications, Focus Habitat schedules local notifications for an active focus session. The app also uses Apple's ActivityKit to display an active session on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island where supported. These surfaces show the session timer, its paused/running state, and the user's chosen companion name; focus-label text, session notes, and other autobiographical text are not placed in these surfaces.

Tracking, advertising, and third parties

Focus Habitat does not use advertising, cross-app tracking, a third-party analytics SDK, or a third-party crash-reporting SDK. It does not sell personal information.

Apple may process diagnostic (only if you opt in to share analytics with developers in iOS Settings), TestFlight, App Store, notification, and platform-service data under Apple's own terms and privacy policy. Focus Habitat does not control Apple's independent data processing.

Screen Time and purchases

The app does not include Screen Time app blocking.

The app offers an optional Habitat Plus membership sold through Apple's StoreKit. Payment, billing, renewal, and refund data is processed entirely by Apple under Apple's terms and privacy policy; Focus Habitat never sees, stores, or transmits payment or App Store account information. The app reads verified purchase and renewal information from StoreKit, including the product identifier, membership status, expiry date and automatic-renewal status. These records stay on the device and are not uploaded to Focus Habitat. Buying, declining, or cancelling membership does not change what the app collects: still nothing leaves the device.

Data deletion

Deleting Focus Habitat from the device removes the app's local container and its locally stored data, subject to normal operating-system behavior and device backups controlled by the user or Apple. Focus Habitat has no Focus Habitat account or server-side user record to delete.

Changes

This policy will be updated when the application's data practices change. App Store privacy answers and the bundled privacy manifest must remain consistent with the shipped version.

Children

Focus Habitat is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, since no data leaves the device.
